Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good Plus. David Finn (illustrator). Book Club (BCE/BOMC). A photographic essay on English sculptor Henry Moore's "Large Two Forms," a monumental work created in 1966-69 and now installed at the Gould Center, Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Photographer David Finn photographed the work over several seasons from a wide variety of perspectives and lighting conditions, resulting in a fascinating visual study of one of Moore's most important works. Text includes a brief comment by Moore and a preface by Kenneth Clark, pre-eminent British art historian and critic. 9 1/4 x 12 1/2 inches; 79 pages with 44 black & white and color photographs on heavy, glossy stock, including three-page panoramic foldout of the work against a background of trees and rectilinear buildings and 14 two-page spreads. Dark blue, cloth-covered boards and text block are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The pictorial dustjacket shows a nickel-sized scratched and rubbed are on the front panel (apparently an attempt to remove a sticker) , a quarter-inch tear at the bottom corner of the back panel and minor edge and corner wear. A very decent reading/study copy.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 328 pp. Octavo [30.9 cm]. Green cloth over boards. Gilt stamped lettering on front board and back strip. Illustrated end papers. From the publisher: ". The visitor marvels at the sculptor's art, and the skill of the bronze founder and gilder, yet he can see little of the detail. In a remarkable testimony to his skills, David Finn, the AMerican photographer, whose work has been described by the American National Sculpture Review as having "a capacity to alert even the most jaded eye and to bring pulsating life to the sculptors's surfaces," repairs that separation from the sculptured imaged. He brings the viewer as close to the astonishing sculptures as the artists were when first modelling their work more than 500 years ago, revealing a wealth of detail and incident. Kenneth Clark's characteristically urbane but authoritative introduction explains the original commission of the doors, and their place in the art of the time, and examines their importance as one of the few complete masterpieces that have survived umdamaged and un-restored to the present day. George Robinson's commmentaries connect the scriptural allusions, iconography and cultural background, illuminating the weight of meaning incorporated into these bronze masterpieces.".
