Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Halevi, Ahron (Aaron, Aharon) (illustrator). 12 one sides leaves of illustrations in color, one page introduction, in Hebrew, and paper wrappers. Each of the pictures is accompanied by a relevant Biblical quote. Laid is a large sheet, published with it, with the English and German translation of the introduction and of the Biblical Quotes. Aaron Halevy (1887-1957) was born in Czernowitz-Bucovina. In 1906 he immigrated to Israel and began his studies at Bezalel. In 1912-1914 he worked at Bezalel. From 1914 to 1918 he was in Damascus. During World War I the Turks exiled some Jews from Eretz Israel and perhaps that explains this move. Upon his return to Israel he stayed for a brief period in Jerusalem and then settled on the banks of the Sea of Galilee where he spent a few years pursuing painting, fishing and farming. In 1923 he back in Jerusalem to participate in the exhibition held in the Tower of David in Jerusalem. According to the Introduction, in 1928 he was living on a hilltop in Herzliya, north of (the 19 year old town of) Tel Aviv, working the land, tending his flock and, when the spirit moved him, pursuing his art. For more information on the artist, see Jonah Fisher in his book OMANUT ISRAEL (= Israeli Art), edited by Benjamin Tammuz, Massada Publishing, 1963.
