The novelization of the 1979 Canadian CBC TV Network film "Riel", a movie based on true events in Canadian history. The film starred a who's who of Canadian acting talent including Christopher Plummer and William Shatner. Louis Riel led two separate rebellions against the Canadian military in the late 1800s, defending the Metis way of life and opposing Canadian expansionism plans. He was tried and executed by hanging for high treason on November 16th 1885 in Regina SK Canada.
