From dust jacket: This Memoir explains the geology of a scenically varied part of east Kent, extending from the area around Catnerbury southward to the coast. It deals, in scientific terms, with the rocks of the district and the fossils which they contain, the development of the rivers and streams which traverse the local countryside and with the reclamation of Romney Marsh from the sea. The interesting and extensive landslips, the classic fossil localities at Folkestone and the fine Chalk cliffs are fully described, and an up to date account is given of the western part of the Kent Coalfield, the seams of which are worked at depths of about three thousand feet within the district.
