A volunteer fire department in a provincial town plans a ball in honor of the chief's retirement, but the proceedings are marred with comic difficulty at every turn. The first color film directed by Milos Forman, a hallmark of the Czechoslovak New Wave, and the final film Forman directed in his native Czechoslovakia before relocating to the US in the late 1960s. 10 x 8 inches.
