Isaac Newton was a physicist and mathematician who laid the foundations of calculus, extended the understanding of color and light, studied the mechanics of planetary motion, and discovered the law of gravitation. His work established the commonly held scientific view of the world until Albert Einstein undermined it in the early 20th century. Minor shelf wear and soiling along edges of binding. Binding in overall good+ to very good, interior in fine condition.

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. First Easton Press edition, 2000. Fine oversize leatherbound hardback issued without dust jacket, clean and unmarked. A relatively scarce Easton title. Some question as to how Easton actually catalogs this title. Spine says, "Principia"; half-title says, "Newton's Principia (Motte's Translation Revised)"; title reads (in full), "Sir Isaac Newton's Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy and his System of the World, translated into English by Andrew Motte in 1729. The translations revised, and supplied with an historical and explanatory appendix, by Florian Cajori, late professor of the history of mathematics emerits [sic] in the University of California.".
