In 1813 the publication of this work, his Classical Tour Through Italy, obtained for him sudden celebrity, and he became a prominent figure in literary society. The fourth revised edition of this work, which includes a description of the excavations of Pompeii, subsequent to the author's tour, and a list of the most celebrated inns in Italy. In half paper vellum. Externally smart, though spines and corners are a little soiled, as is usual with vellum. Vol III and IV are a little bumped to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a scattering of spots to the first and last few pages. Very Good. book.
