The back cover and translator's note list the next two volumes, 'in preparation,' scheduled to be published in 1933 and '34 (they came out in '35 and '37). Adapted into a 1970 East German film, directed by Egon Gunther. Zweig was author of the 1927 bestseller 'The Case of Sergeant Grischa'; shortly after publishing 'Junge Frau von 1914,' he watched Nazis burn his books in Berlin and left Germany for good. 347 pages.
