    Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. First edition of this history of American Privateers (legitimized Pirates) and dedicated Theodore Roosevelt, Pioneer of the Modern School of Naval Writers. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with elaborate copper plate design on front and gilded lettering to the front and spine. Corners and head/tails of spine gently rubbed. One mark on spine, one bump along long front edge. Top edge gilded, long and lower edges rough cut. Yellow endpapers. Advertisement on half-title verso, splitting along gutter. Otherwise internally clean and clear with light toning at the outer edges of the paper. Filled with illustrations and copies of older documents/broadsides.
