Add to basketHardcover with Dust Jacket. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good-. William Gropper (illustrator). First Edition. 8vo. Pp. [10], 11-188. Chapter heads by William Gropper. Decorated endpapers. Bound in blue cloth with illustration stamped in white on front board, white lettering on spine. Light age-toning-soiling to edges of cloth, else quite sharp. Former owner name of Paul Jordan Smith on the half-title. In the illustrated dust jacket that shows spine a tad faded, and a bit of edge-wear, notably to head and tail of spine. Price of $2.00 intact on front flap. Withal, a bright, presentable copy. Former owner Jordan-Smith was the American lecturer and scholar of English literature whose art movement, "Disumbrationism," was eventually revealed as a hoax. Wilbur Jordan Smith, his son, ran UCLA Special Collections from 1950s-1970 or so. The William Gropper dust jacket illustration conveys the tone of Digges' Cape Cod guide, depicting eponymous Bill astride an unhappy dolphin while waving his cowboy hat in glee. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve. .
