Art / Print / Poster First Edition
Newspaper. 16p., folded tabloid underground newspaper, news, opinion, articles, photos, events, actions, comix, psychedelia, blue print instead of black, heavy toning to fold else very good on newsprint. The Express Times was S.F.'s main political underground paper. In a pioneering instance of "fake news," this issue's cover story is "Onassis Assassinated", a little yarn about the wealthy shipping magnate being poisoned aboard his fabulous yacht while celebrating his marriage to Jackie Kennedy just days before. Onassis didn't actually die until 1975 from respiratory failure. Also a dubious report inside about Warren Hinckle and Sidney Zion visiting Roy Cohn on a fund-raising mission for Ramparts magazine. Centerspread is a quasi-poster featuring seven poems by staffer Sandy Darlington. Joan Holden and R.G. Davis provide an extended plug for the S.F. Mime Troupe's upcoming plays. Frank Bardacke continues his dissecting of the '68 Olympics in his sports column. The longest piece in the issue is a meandering meditation on the Passamaquoddy Indians of Maine, which makes Hunter Thompson's output look disciplined and to the point, by comparison. A strange issue.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Space explorer, Lance Romar, doesn't intend to become a larger than life hero. Nor does he expect to be branded a spy, a kidnapper or a thief. He only wants to find his brother. Hot on the trail, Lance blunders into the middle of an interstellar war. Though he saves the life of the Governor's son, his hero status is short-lived when the planetary leader discovers his missing brother is mass-producing advanced warships for the other side. But who needs hero status when your telepathic sidekick can pass as a pet, your robot is almost human, and your spaceship is faster than anyone else's? Lance is forced to leave all three behind when plans go awry during his chaotic escape from the Governor. Now a fugitive from both sides, he pushes on alone, determined to stop his brother and destroy the newly-created fleet. However, a shocking setback may end his mission--unless he can get help from a band of pirates led by a beautiful and willful woman. This item is printed on demand. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. A power-hungry tyrant is one step away from stellar domination. The only thing standing in his way is the rightful queen backed by a band of space pirates. They're barely holding on when their hero returns from his faraway planet. This time Lance Romar brings an ally--his brother, Jason. Because of his past dealings in the system, not everyone considers Jason Romar and asset, espescially the queen he is trying to put back into power. But how do you win someone to your side when you can't remember what you did to alienate her? Defeating the tyrant would be a good start. Though haunted by his missing memories, Jason shows his true mettle when he and Lance attempt to defy the odds and create a fleet strong enough to defeat the tyrant. They have the resources, the know-how and the drive. But will they have the time? This item is printed on demand.
