372 pp (including index). 32 pp Chatto & Windus catalogue, dated 1870, at rear. Frontispiece of Dickens, from the D'Orsay drawing. T.p. bust vignette of Dickens. 12mo. 7-5/8" x 4-7/8" Square & tight, with bright spine gilt. Light extremity wear [lower tips]. A VG+ copy. Original green pebbled cloth with gilt stamped lettering to spine, now protected by a custom-cut clear mylar wrapper. Advert leaflet, printed in red, tipped into front hinge, advertising "Charles Dickens, The Story of His Life" 1st edition. Ca 1870, see NCBEL III, 826.
