Extremities bumped with wear, esp.at the head and foot of spine. Bookplate of previous owner on the paste-down end paper. On a page before the title page is an inscription dated Christmas 1940 gifting the book to a member of that year's class.

2 vols. 8vo. Original gilt lettered black cloth (Fine), dustwrapper (Fine in protective covers). Pp. xxiv +309 [&] 372, illus with b&w plates (no inscriptions).

Hardcover. Condition: Good. PLEASE REAd THE FOLLOWING WITH CARE. Two volumes, NOT ex-library. Green boards rather mottled and discoloured. Corners worn. Spines faded. Bindings firm. Decorative bookplate of Christopher Wood to both front pastedowns. Frontispiece of Burne-Jones to each volume. Drawings by Griggs to front and rear of volume one. However, NONE of the other listed plates are present in either volume. It would appear that these volumes were printed without the plates being bound in (i.e. the plates have not been removed, they were never present). A few marginal pencil marks mainly in volume one. Text bright with in-text sketches present. 309pp and 372pp. Significant extra postage required for delivery outside the U.K. Further details available on request. (Uc5).

Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Edward Burne Jones (illustrator). 1st American Edition. a set in 2 large royal 8vo volumes. Profusely illustrated by Sir Edward Burne Jones. Original blue gilt cloth with top edge gilt and the others uncut. Engraved frontis of Burne Jones, partner of the great William Morris and the Kelmscott Press. A famous Pre Raphaelite artist who lived from 1833 to 1898 spine slightly faded, dusty, but a tight set, textblock is excellent and very clean, includes photo gravures and fine engravings. Superb.

"New Edition, two volumes in one, September, 1906" First edition thus; bound in dark green cloth with gilt spine lettering, top page edges gilt, decalled page edges, clean tight and unmarked Near Fine condition with very light rubs to corners and spine extremities, no previous owner indications.

In fair condition, lightly aged. Laid out in the customary fashion, with centred 'Lady Burne-Jones.', and at bottom left: 'The Grange, / 49, North End Road, / West Kensington, W.' In her autograph at head: 'with sincere thanks / from', and beneath her engraved name '& family'. See image.
