Tight hardcover book in good condition. 12mo. 263pp. Dark green cloth boards & backstrip with circular incised script JMB in the center of the front board & faint gold lettering on the backstrip. The frontispiece has a black & white illustration by Bernard Partridge that is printed on coated stock. The tops of the pages are dyed brown. Book is clean & tight. The boards have some wear & a little edgewear. The backstrip has some edgewear on the top & bottom and some fading - the original gold lettering is barely visible. The endpapers have light discoloration. The inside of the back board has some foxing. The pre-pages have some light discoloration around the outside edges. Some of the leaves have not been opened. The leaves are in very good condition with no markings. Ships within 24 hours. Scans available upon request.

12mo, 3 pp. Bifolium. Good, on lightly-aged paper. Attractive red letterhead, in the Arts and Crafts style. The writings she referred to in a previous letter have not come. 'You probably forgot to enclose them. I expect to read some of the papers in the days when I look in the P[all]. M[all]. G[azette].' He asks her to give him 'an idea of what the publisher proposes to spend on the illustrations, and also the size of them, and the style - pen & ink, or "wash".' He has heard news of her 'from Welsh, Ethel Johnson's husband, who is with me at the Haymarket'. COPAC does not appear to provide any information regarding a work on which Patridge collaborated with a Miss Smith during this period.
