Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. This is the first textbook which presents the theory of pure discrete communication systems and its relation to the existing theory of digital and analog communications at a graduate level. Based on the orthogonality principles and theory of discrete time stochastic processes, a generic structure of communication systems, based on correlation demodulation and optimum detection, is developed and presented in the form of mathematical operatorswith precisely defined inputs and outputs and related functions. Based on this generic structure, the traditionally defined phase shift keying (PSK), frequency shift keying (FSK), quadrature amplitudemodulation (QAM), orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and code division multiple access (CDMA) systems are deduced as its special cases. The main chapters, presenting the theory of communications, are supported by a set of supplementary chapters containing the theory of deterministic and stochastic signal processing, which makes the book a self-contained presentation of the subject. The book uses unified notation and unified terminology, which allows a cleardistinction between deterministic and stochastic signals, power signals and energy signals, discrete time signals and processes and continuous time signals and processes, and an easy way ofunderstanding the differences in defining the correlation functions, power and energy spectral densities, and amplitudes and power spectra of the mentioned signals and processes. In addition to solved examples in the text, about 300 solved problems are available to readers in the supplementary material that aim to enhance the understanding of the theory in the text. In addition, five research Projects are added to be used by lecturers or instructors that aim to enhance theunderstanding of theory and to establish its relation to the practice. This is the first textbook which presents the theory of pure discrete communication systems and its relation to the existing theory of digital communication. It is written for undergraduate and graduate students, and for practicing engineers. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Present in future telecommunication networks are based on digital transmission technology. The transmission channel of these networks can be represented by a cascade composed of a number of elementary channels connected in series. An important step in digital channel modelling is estimation of parameters and distribution functions which characterise the statistical properties of error sequences in the channel. This book presents methods and techniques for parameter (primarily the probability of error) and distribution function (primarily the error gap complementary distribution function) estimation using the error sequences obtained by measurement or simulation in elementary or cascaded channels. The methods and techniques developed are of principal importance in industry and academia when time efficient and reliable methods are required for data processing obtained by measurements or simulation. The wider application of the methods and techniques presented in this book are demonstrated on practical examples related to wideband radio propagation measurement, error correcting codes and digital channel modelling. 280 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - The advances in digital computer and softwaretechnology for real time applications have led to afast development of methods and algorithms fordigital signal processing. This was a motivation forthe author to write this book that would cover theessential theoretical topics in signal processingthat are needed to be understood by seniorundergraduate and postgraduate students andpractitioners in signal processing. Furthermore, asignificant part of the book is dedicated toalgorithms and structures that are used in digitalsignal processing for practical applications. Twochapters of the book are exclusively dedicated to thetheory of continuous and discrete time stochasticsignal processing. In this way the complete theory ofsignal processing is presented in a single book. Thecontent of the book is intended for one ortwo-semester senior undergraduate course and iswritten at the level for self-study by students andpracticing engineers. Some parts of the book can bestructured in such way to be used as lectures for thepostgraduate course in discrete time stochasticsignal processing, multi-rate signal processing andbank of filters with associated projects.
