Loose as Issued. Condition: Good. Unique. TWO signatures on pieces ("free frank" fronts) 1 is dated 1823 to Capt Hay? London and the other is later 1857 to Ireland but address unclear. To Mr Rothwell, C----- Town, Kerry? Historical Notes*. Note*. Entered the British Army in 1803 as a cornet in the 13th Dragoons. Made a captain in the 16th Light Dragoons, Beauchamp served with the regiment during the Peninsular War from 1809 until its end in 1814. He took part in the First Battle of Porto and then in the Battle of Talavera. After the Battle of the Côa in 1810, he was wounded in the Battle of Bussaco. Beauchamp was promoted to major in the 1st Life Guards in 1815, to major-general in 1837 and received the colonelcy of the 10th Royal Hussars for life in 1843. First Edition. Original cloth-backed card covers printed in red lettering. Edges rubbed and corners bumped. pp [x], 192, ix, [12] adverts and a folding plan of Dymock and environs. Photographs reproduced throughout. A VG+ copy. A comprehensive history of Dymock, a village in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, about four miles south of Ledbury, perhaps best known as the home of Stinking Bishop cheese. Also the home of the Dymock poets during the period 19111914, namely Wilfrid Wilson Gibson, Lascelles Abercrombie and the American-born Robert Frost. The daffodils in Dymock were thought to be the inspiration for the line "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood" in Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken". Book.

No 15 of 100 copies with the signatures of the Earl Beauchamp (the former Governor NSW), Howard Ashton, E C Temple Smith, W Bede Dalley, Rayner Hoff, E H Shea (publisher & printer). This is a rare example of the slow and expansive collotype printing process in Australia. This book celebrates Hoff's sculptures on Sydney's Anzac Memorial. Beachamp writes on war memorials and the Anzac War Memorial Building, Sydney. Ashton writes on Hoff's 'fine accomplishment'. Temple Smith writes on Hoff as a sculptor. Dalley writes about Hoff's attempt 'to fill the thirsty land with springs of water'. and use of local white marble. The book features other Hoff bronzes & ends with an extensive list of subscribers and donors to its publication. They include Justice HV Evatt, Dorothea Mckellar, Frank Packer, Keith Murdoch and the V&A Museum Library, London.
