Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Gebraucht - Sehr gut verlagsfrische Restauflage, minimale Lagerspuren, ungelesen, sehr guter Zustand -Microsphere carrier systems made from the biodegradable polymers have attracted considerable attention for several years in sustained drug delivery. However, the short residence time at the site of absorption could be overcome by coupling bioadhesion characteristics to microspheres and developing bioadhesive microspheres with the help of bioadhesive polymers. Neostigmine Bromide a cholinesterase inhibitor is widely used for the treatment of Myasthenia Gravis. It is presently marketed in conventional dosage form as a tablet in usual strength of 15-30 mg for peroral route. Extent of absorption of drug through oral route is only 1-2% of 30 mg of administered dose. Hence there is need of novel nasal drug delivery system for the treatment of Myasthenia Gravis. To overcome inherent drawbacks associated with conventional dosage forms of Neostigmine Bromide, an attempt is being made in the present research work to develop an alternative drug delivery system in the form of Nasal mucoadhesive microspheres to increase the rate and extent of absorption and to reduce the dosing frequency of the formulation. 168 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -The development of controlled release formulations continues to be a big success for pharmaceutical industry due to its ease of manufacturing process and reproducibility of desirable pharmaceutical properties. Controlled drug delivery systems are receiving more and more attention as they control the rate of drug release and sustain the duration of therapy. Oral controlled drug delivery systems release the drug with constant or variable release rates.A delivery system with a release profile that is characterized by a time period of no release (lag time) followed by a rapid and complete drug release (pulse release) can be called as an ideal pulsatile drug delivery system. In other words, it is required that a drug should not be released at all during the initial phase of dosage form administration. A timed, pulsatile delivery system provides one or more rapid release pulses at predetermined lag times or at specific sites resulting in better absorption of the drug, and thereby providing more effective plasma concentration time profile. Pulsatile drug delivery systems are generally classified into time-controlled pulsatile release and site specific delivery systems.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 156 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -A promising strategy to overcome these problems involves the development of suitable drug carrier system. The In vivo fate of the drug is no longer mainly determined by the properties of the drug, but by the carrier system, which permit a controlled and localized release of the active drug according to the specific needs of the therapy. The size of the carrier depends on the desired route of administration and ranges from few nanometers to micrometers (implants). Implants and microparticles are too large for drug targeting and intravenous administration. Therefore, colloidal carriers have attracted increasing attention during recent years. Investigated systems include nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, liposomes, niosomes, nanosuspensions, micelles, and soluble polymer-drug conjugates.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 148 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -Floating drug delivery system or hydrodynamically balance systems have a bulk density lower than gastric fluid and thus remains buoyant in the stomach for a prolonged period of time without affecting the gastric emptying rate. While the system is floating on gastric contents the drug is released slowly at a desired rate from the system. After the release of drug residual system is emptied from the stomach. This results in increase in gastric residence time and a better control of fluctuation in plasma drug concentration. Development of oral controlled-release systems has been a challenge to formulation scientists because of their inability to restrain and localize the system in the targeted area of the gastrointestinal tract.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 156 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -Mankind has been the subject to infection by microorganisms since before the dawn of recorded history. One presumes that mankind has been searching for suitable therapy for nearly as long. This was a desperately difficult enterprise given the acute nature of most infections and the nearly total lack of understanding of their origins prevalent until the last century. The chronicle of civilization before the discovery of bacteria and their role in infectious disease and, subsequently, of the discovery of antibiotics and antimicrobial agents is punctuated by the outbreak of recurrent devastating pandemics. An example is the successive waves of bubonic plague which dramatically decreased the population of Europe in the middle Ages. Mankind was mystified as to the cause of infectious disease and what one must constructively do for prevention and cure. In warfare, infections often disabled or killed more individuals than did the action of generals. Our own family histories record the premature loss of loved ones, particularly small children, to one infection or another and in the third world this pattern is all too common today.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 160 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware -Eye is most interesting organ due to its drug disposition characteristics. Generally, topical application of drugs is the method of choice under most circumstances because of its convenience and safety for ophthalmic chemotherapy. A significant challenge to the formulator is to circumvent (bypass) the protective barriers of the eye without causing permanent tissue damage. Development of newer, more sensitive diagnostic techniques and novel therapeutic agents continue to provide ocular delivery systems with high therapeutic efficacy. Conventional ophthalmic formulations like solution, suspension, and ointment have many disadvantages which result into poor bioavailability of drug in the ocular cavity. The specific aim of designing a therapeutic system is to achieve an optimal concentration of a drug at the active site for the appropriate duration. Ocular disposition and elimination of a therapeutic agent is dependent upon its physicochemical properties as well as the relevant ocular anatomy and physiology. A successful design of a drug delivery system, therefore, requires an integrated knowledge of the drug molecule and the constraints offered by the ocular route of administrationBooks on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 148 pp. Englisch.
