He was a Russian immigrant to the United States. One of his best known works is his mural "The History of California", painted from 1940-1948 and located in the Rincon Center in downtown San Francisco, California. It depicts the history of the state across twenty-seven panels.Norman Kent [1903-1972] was an American artist and art educator known for his woodcuts and watercolor landscapes. He served as the editor of American Artist magazine for more than twenty-five years.
