The words FIRST PUBLISHED and the year appear on the copyright page with no additional printings indicated. A tight, clean, sound copy in plastic laminated purple and white paper covered boards with minor overall shelf wear with some light yellowing of the outside paper edges plus there are two closed tears (about 0.75" and 0.5") on pages 175/176 plus there are the usual library stamps and label on the top outside paper edges, the front free endpaper, the title page, and the last page. Illustrated with black and white reproductins. A biography of an important French humanist scholar and writer. Bibliography, indexed, 210p. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ex-Library.
