A very nice copy of this biography on the legendary mountain man, Jedediah Smith, who covered much of the terra incognito of the American west in the early 19th century, including some of the most inhospitable (Mojave, Salt Desert, etc.). While he was doing all of this, the closest American town is the fledgling western metropolis of St. Louis.
