Evetts Haley on the half-title page to Harry Darby, a prominent Kansas City industrialist and the former U.S. Senator from Kansas: "For Harry Darby[,] rugged and distinguished American and esteemed friend of J. Evetts Haley August 5, 1955". With Darby's distinctive book plate opposite the half-title page. Publisher's illustrated slipcase is worn on edges and corners, with small strips of outer card board missing at bottom front edge and rear top corner. J. Frank Dobie described LIFE ON THE TEXAS RANGE as ". . . easily the finest range book in the realm of the pictorial ever published".

Inscribed, signed, and dated (June 3, 1975) by Haley on the half-title page. In near fine condition, split beginning at top of front hinge. Slipcase had minor bumping to corners and some minor scuffing on bottom edge. Erwin E Smith was the outstanding cowboy photographer of the West. The prints from which the gravure plates in this book have been engraved were made in 1936 by Erwin E SMith for the Texas Centennial celebration and are now a part of the permanent display of Smith's range photography in The Texas Memorial Museum. Signed by Author(s). Book.
