Stiff wraps. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. 8vo. Pp. 15. Pictorial stiff paper wraps, saddle-stapled. Slight edgewear and light soiling to cover. Now preserved in a removable, clear archival sleeve with an acid-free backing. Shoemaker's send-up of Seattle mayor Ole Hanson, who presided over the city during the Seattle General Strike, 1919 -- one of the most significant general strikes in the US and thought to be inspired by the Russian Revolution. As such, it was treated as a bellwether with potential to spread to other major cities. Shoemaker puts proper prospective on the event; in mock-heroic style he skewers "Great Oleum" as an opportunist who used the notoriety of the strike to advance himself and enrich his pocketbook by touring the US on a lecture circuit.
