One of 5,000 copies, this is the original narrative of the first Spanish entry into San Francisco Bay, 1775. With further details by participants in the first explorations of the Bay's waters, together with four contemporary maps and six illustrations in full colour from the brush and pencil of Louis Choris who was at San Francisco in 1816. Canizares, under Captain Ayala's orders surveyed the bay and produced the map in this volume.
