Autograph Letter Signed by United Kingdom Prime Minister Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery (1847-1929) who served in that office from 1894 to 1895. The letter-simply signed "R"-was written to a Mr. Williams just one month after Rosebery resigned as leader of the Liberal Party. Rosebery mentions "hundreds of letters arriving" and references the City Liberal Club, adding his hope ".that the new circular will have produced its result.".

This fascinating biographical work offers an in depth understanding regarding Lord Randolph Churchill, the British statesman and founder of the National Union of the Conservative Party, written by the former Prime Minister and British Liberal Archibald Primrose, the 5th Earl of Rosebery. The two were very good friends, with the idea for the work originally suggested by Churchill's mother. In the original green cloth binding. Between the death of his father, in 1851, and the death of his grandfather, the 4th Earl of Rosebery. He gained the rank of Captain in 1888 in the service of the Scots Guards. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Annaly of Annaly and Rathcline, co. Longford [U.K., 1863] on 16 March 1888. He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Longford. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) He gained the rank of honorary Colonel in the service of the Northamptonshire Yeomnary. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Northamptonshire. He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber to HRH The Prince of Wales between 1908 and 1910. He held the office of Permanent Lord-in-Waiting to HM King George V between 1910 and 1921. He was invested as a Grand Officer, Legion of Honour French. He was a Liberal Unionist in his politics.

9'' x 4'' colour printed triptych folding pamphlet opening to 9'' x 12'' with tri-colour flag tipped to the cream paper printed in red, white and blue, this opens to each side showing how all four flags of the United Kingdom arrive at making up the Union Jack. Lord Rosebery gives a detailed explanation to the Edinburgh School Children (February 22nd, 1908) on the construction of the flag. Note tipped to the front cover explaining how Thomas Nelson, of Edinburgh, have kindly allowed this Union Jack to be purchased specially for the Members of Junior Branch of the Imperial Maritime League for presentation on Empire Day, 24th May 1909.
