A predominently photographic account of the WWII Siege of Malta, 1940-42, when the Air Forces of Germany and Italy constantly tried to bomb the small island into submission - without success. Foreword by Winston S. Churchill.128 pages : illustrations, maps, portraits ; 26 cm. Very attractive illustrated front endpapers. Interior is bright, clean and unmarked. Binding is tight and square. Blue cloth shows only very light wear and a sun-faded spine. Unpacked weight, 470g. This is a collection of naval stories, pre-war related, first published in 1914 and many of them earlier appearing in the Pall Mall gazette.

Contains 122 printed pages of text with monochrome diagrams throughout, three fold-out maps, illustrated front piece and rear of the dust wrapper only loosely enclosed . Sun bleaching to the blue of the spine and head of the upper panel, black ink stamp to the front paste down, tape traces to the end papers and in near Very Good condition, no dust wrapper.
