This was originally published in four separate volumes starting in 1972, and is here brought together into two volumes of 334 and 524 pages. New, unread set does not have the slipcase. Spines are a bit lumpy which occurred in binding. Does not affect book readability.

The 860 pages in these two volumes include Mari Sandoz's sister Caroline Pifer's biographical summary of Mari's early life through 1928, with many photos and illustrative letters, plus transitional and explanatory comments on other letters up to 1935, the year she became famous with the publication of OLD JULES. Mrs. Pifer stated that the collection was "Compiled from mementos and letters of Mari Sandoz and from family background." This work was first published in 1972 ff. in four volumes. Sepia-toned frontispiece, and the covers of these sturdy paperbacks are illustrated with a ranchland scene and photos of Sandoz. Books are still in shrinkwrap.
