[ Includes his speeches; on Napoleon Bonaparte, to the Bible Society at Mansion House, at the London Orphan Asylum, South American Freedom, etc.]. Hardback. Frontispiece; portrait of Phillips engraved by T. Woolnoth. Contemporary full light-brown calf-leather. Raised bands; gilt lettered black label to spine; gilt tooled panels. Original light-brown end-papers. Bright, tight and clean. No owner name or internal markings. Slight stain to inner margin of portrait; slightly affecting the print area. Internally very clean. VERY GOOD. (iii), (ii), 304 pages. Though a Protestant, PHILLIPS took a part in the agitation for Roman Catholic emancipation. In 1813 he was presented with a national testimonial, and was publicly thanked by the Catholic Board. Daniel O'Connell eulogised him warmly, and Phillips in return was fulsome. Phillips died in Golden Square, London, on 1 February 1859, aged 70, and was buried in Highgate Cemetery. 8vo. **Will be well-packed for posting/shipping**.
