Parsons was the only pilot who did not transfer to the American Air Service (from the Lafayette Escadrille), choosing to remain with the French in Escadrille Spad 3 of the Storks until the Armistice was signed. He was decorated with the French Legion of Honor, the French Medaille Militaire (that nation's highest award for combat troops), the French Croix de Guerre with eight palms, the Belgian Order of Leopold, and the Belgian Croix de Guerre.
