Soft cover. Condition: Fair. Afrikaans/English tumble-bound each 21pp. Back wrap served as address sheet. Copy posted to Mrs E Lodge, 5 Kensington Road, Mowbray, C.P. Bound by single staple. Outer wraps very worn. Split halfway up spine and balance precarious. As is usual, because recipients had to slit wraps with a letter opener. the edges are frayed and rubbed with two closed 1cm tears. Address wrap has some loss - about 1.5 sq cm. Paper yellowed. All text legible. Many small b/w photos. Fragile publication but holding. Includes "Latest reports from German Camps". Many letters, names, portraits etc. One gets the impression, from what is not said, that these publications were intended to put family members' fears to rest. Very scarce.

Book
Soft cover. Condition: Fair. Unlike later numbers the first issue had no photo on the front. Tumble-bound English/Afrikaans each 17pp. bound with a single staple. The first page of the English section has come adrift and of the corresponding leaf in the Afrikaans section (containing the address sheet and the Afrikaans p. 2 on the reverse) only a small portion of the address remains. Internal pages unmarked and undamaged but age-toned and with the odd crease. The first page is ragged at the edges probably due to clumsy opening as the corresponding back leaf bore the address. Many small b/w photos and letters from PoWs. Contains "A Message to the Relatives and Friends of Our Non-European Prisoners-of-War". Extremely scarce.
