hardcover, 7¼" x 8¾", with dust jacket 228 pages Ben Shahn first achieved fame with a series of paintings dealing with the notorious Sacco-Vanzetti trial. His work of the late 1930s helped define his stylistic thrust and the political bent of the Social Realist movement. Ben Shahn's postwar paintings reflected an increasing aesthetic sophistication to which proficiency in other media, including photography, contributed. This book contains a wide selection of his paintings illustrated in colour and b&w, a chronology, bibliography and samples of his graphic work. Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers & barcode. Book in GOOD condition.
