Book
No Binding. Condition: Good. Card 15.2x10.3cm, printed to the recto only, with the 21st Army Group's crest in colour, Montgomery's signature in facsimile in blue ink, and the following message from him: "I feel I cannot let you leave 21 Army Group on your return to civil life without a message of thanks and farewell. Together we have carried through one of the most successful campaigns in history, and it has been our good fortune to be members of this great team. God Bless you and God speed / B.L. Montgomery / Field Marshall / Commander in Chief / BLA 1945". BLA refers to the British Liberation Army, active from the Normandy Invasion to the end of WW2, which drew mainly on the 21 Army Group. In August 1945 it was redesignated the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR), and I have seen similar cards to this dated BAOR 1945 or 1946. The card offered here thus predates the end of WW2.
