Hardcover. Condition: Very Good-. First Edition. Fine lithographs, hand colored; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 99 pages; Scarce early Dutch children's book with 12 finely engraved, hand colored plates. No date given, but almost certainly 1839 -1840 by virtue of the publisher catalog ads to endpapers. 16 mo, 14 cm. Smaller format HC in publisher's original textured brown cloth with ornate floral cartouche design in gilt to covers. Block gilt lettering at spine a little rubbed and dulled. Collects a variety of prose and verse for children by Van Meerten and Robide, illustrated with 12 finely lithographed plates, with contemporary hand coloring. Endpages contain publisher catalog ads for similar titles, a good many by the authors of this volume. Period gift inscription to half-title page. Front board almost detached and rear board weak in the joint. Still all externals are bright and neat; a simple rebacking would be recommended. Mild foxing to half-title page; all else bright and neat. Contents NF and externals complete and sharp, graded down to reflect the need for rebacking. VG- Scarce volume ; 3 copies noted in collections searched by Worldcat.
