Chaffing on the boards, dark staining on the front board, lower corners bumped, previous owner's name dated 1893 on the half title page, creaking in the front hinge, occasional foxing in the margins. The index section remains uncut(unopened). Many of the fold-out illustrations depict engines and ships. Illustration after page 122 torn out, ripped and heavily damaged on the edges- but laid-in.
