Charles Rathbone Low served as as a Lieutenant in the Indian Navy, and published numerous historical studies on maritime themes, including his best known work, his 'History of the Indian Navy (1613-1863)'. These three volumes are a comprehensively detailed history of the Royal Navy from the American Revolution through 1892.
