Henry Chaplin was a long-serving politician of the 19th and early 20th centuries as well as being a noted horseman, sportsman and family man. This memoir by his daughter has no formal content by John Buchan, but in her preface Lady Londonderry wrote "My friend, Mr. John Buchan has given me invaluable assistance in various sections, and has supervised with me the arrangement of the book." 347 pages. Bound in maroon cloth with gold lettering and his arms in gold on the front. 36 full page illustrations, 4 of them in colour. The binding is rubbed at the extremities with some wear at the spine ends. The covers have patchy fading. Internally in good order with all the plates intact and a firm binding. The outer and lower edges are uncut. There is intermittent light foxing and occasional brown spots. Surprisingly scarce in the UK.
