Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Leila Crocheron Freeman (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition (J.H. Sears = NAP). Very impressive condition, particularly for a book of this genre published in 1926. Take a look at the photographs. The covers are very solid. There isn't any rub-through at the corners or on the edges. You can see that the spine's edges have only a little bit of wrinkling. The black lettering on the front and spine is very bright. So are the designs. There are a couple of surface scratches on the covers, also a few small areas with color loss. But you can see everything I'm describing in the photographs provided. The interior of the book is in very good condition. Leila Crocheron Freeman wrote and illustrated the book. I turned over all the pages and made sure that all of the listed illustrations (color & b&w) were present. They are. Curiously on the Illustrations page near the front of the book one of the illustrations is identified as 'Facing 134' while in fact it is facing page 128 and under the illustration's title at the bottom of this page in parentheses is printed 'See page 134'. The full-page color illustrations are quite special. There are eight of them including the frontispiece. They are in very good condition with only one showing a few minor scratches. The inside covers and end papers are illustrated in color as well. They have a few tiny scuffs near the a couple of the edges but are in very good condition. There appears to been a small bump on the front inside cover near the gutter. It had only the slightest effect with a little bit of the white underlying the black background of the page showing. This book, despite its size and age, is solidly bound. Happily, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book, and that includes the 'To Whom This Book Belongs' page which follows the front illustrated end paper. And the pages are quite clean. I saw only a very few very inconspicuous light spots. There is no foxing at all anywhere in the book. Nor are there any markings or attachments. Some of the corners have an 'almost crease' likely caused by a bump. I didn't see any of the delineated creases that are caused by turning down a corner to mark a place. I've priced this book quite inexpensively. Do some comparison shopping.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. J.H. Sears & Company, New York (1927). First Edition/First Printing. Illustrated by the Author. 160 Pages. Book Condition: Very Good. The book itself is in very good condition. Clean bright pages bereft of inscription, firm binding, vibrant covers, etc. Some staining & wear to covers. Damage to top right of front cover. One of the color illustrations appears to be missing, despite no visible flaw to binding. The table of contents says there should be a full-page color illustration facing page 136, and it's simply not there.
