Trygve Lie was the Minister of Supply in the Norwegian Cabinet on April 9, 1940. He was later Secretary General of the United Nations. This is the story of how the NOrwegian Government and Administration maintained the sovereignty of the Norwegian nation, survived the German pursuers, made their hazardous journey through the length and breadth of Norway during the two months of fighting, and finally came to England and bulit up a large Civil Administration. This is the story of how the Norwegian Government and Administration maintained the sovereignty of the Norwegian nation, survived the German pursuers, made their hazardouys journey through the length and breadth of Norway during the two months of fighting, and finally came to England and built up a large Civil Administration. It is the first record of what took place behind the scenes of the Norwegian Government 1940-45. The book is bound in the original black cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition although the rear board has been bent, leaving a crease running down the cloth in the middle of the board. The contents are tight and clean with a crease running down the middle of the rear fixed endpaper. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with soiling and small pieces missing from the corner tips and bottom of the spine. Up to about 1/4" is missing from the top of the spine and there is a piece missing from the top rear edge and a tear of about 2" running down from the top front spine corner. This tear has an old paper tape repair on the reverse and the top and bottom edges of the wrapper have been reinforced on the reverse with similar paper tape.
