Approx. 170 pp. with 23 engraved and lithographed plates (some in duotone) after drawings by the author. The COPY of LaVallette's close colleague at Bonn, Prof. Moritz Nussbaum (1850-1915), ".who coined the term 'experimental morphology', and who conducted outstanding experimental research on sex determination, regeneration and inheritance." (L.K. Nyhart, 'Biology takes form', 1995). Three of the offprints have holograph presentation inscriptions from LaVallette to Nussbaum and two have Nussbaum's ownership rubberstamp. A very good set. The offprints, which cover over 20 years of LaVallette's (1831-1910) research on spermatogenesis, are: 'Spermatogenese bei den amphibien' (1876), '.bei den sáugethieren und dem menschen' (1878), 'Spermatologische beiträge, erste (-fünfte) mittheilung' (1885-87), 'Ueber innere zwitterbildung beim flusskrebs' (1892) 'Zur samen - und eibildung beim seidenspiner' (1897).
