Book
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Paperback Edition. Paperback. 'Glasgow Girls'. Women in Art and Design 1880-1920 edited by Jude Burkhauser. This book brings to light an astonishing number of women whose work - often internationally exhibited and critically acclaimed in contemporary journals like Deutsche Kunst, Ver Sacrum and The Studio - has now been largely forgotten. Jude Burkhauser has skilfully brought together the research of eighteen scholars into one volume. Together they offer a new feminist-informed art historical perspective on the Glasgow Style. The book is handsomely illustrated by 100 colour and 200 monochrome illustrations, many previously unpublished in book form. Illustrated. 264 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. Academic and Scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Educational Reference Literature.). Signed by the Editor.

Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Immediate dispatch from Somerset. Nice book in great condition. Pages in excellent condition. Images are beautiful bright and vivid. Very slight tan to page edges. No notes or highlighting. See images. Fantastic book. About the book >.>.> I am delighted 'Glasgow Girls' is being presented. Som may find it surprising to see the high quality of work o the women artists and designers included in this book There is great need for the book and it is remarkable it is being done at long last. Although there have been excellent women artists and designers from Glasgow Scottish women have never been very assertive at promoting their work. In fact, until the 1988 Exhibition "Glasgow Girls": Women in the Art School 1880-1920' at Glasgow School of Art, I had never exhibited my work in the School. I remember my first day at the Glasgow School of Art in 1920. At Hamilton Academy my art mistress Penelope Beaton had called my father in to ask him to send me on to the Art School for training and he had agreed. I was so excited and nervous and carrying so much that I got stuck in Rennie Mackintosh's swinging door! I must have looked confused and a tall girl came up and asked me if she could.
