In the short Foreword, Mr. Jonson writes "When I had written the descriptions of a number of tricks, drawn a few illustrations, pinned the lot together, and called it a book, there arose the difficulty of what to call the book. If you read on a little way you will discover why I called it 'LET'S PRETEND'."
