Soft Cover. Condition: Good (see description). Matt Fox Cover Art (illustrator). First Edition. -----------softcover, pulp magazine, a solid Good Good example, some age toning to paper as usually seen in these old pulp magazines, some chipping and short tears, tear on front panel near lower spine tip has been taped on the verso, cover tacked down near that tear, ---this issue is the Canadian version of the AMERICAN July 1947 issue, this has the same cover art as the US issue, has a 20ø price which is the same as the US price, has 112 pages vs. the US having 100 pages, ---the copyright page states " This magazine was produced in Canada, on Canadian paper, by Canadians." ---copyright also states that this is volume 38 # 4 but that volume and issue number was used on multiple issues ---the MARCH 1946 issue was #4 so tecnically this is likely volume 39 # 6 but I'm just going to ignore volume and issue numbers and focus on month and year ---this issue adds Superstitions and Taboos / Futility by Marvin Miller ( May 1941 )/ The Devil's Tree by Denis Plimmer( July 1941 ) / Recompense by Robert E Howard ( November 1938 ), ---this issue does NOT drop any stories or poems from the US issue, any image directly beside this listing is the actual item and not a generic photo /// NOT SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// / --- (size is approximate) ---covers might be trimmed, could be tears along the spine which might have been stabilized with a bit of glue, if you have any specific conditions which might be a concern please inquire before ordering ---if you wish to see individual scans please ask as I am limited to a certain number of scans with each listing ---many of these issues drop Taboos and Suerstitions /and/ Shape of Thrills to Come (which are listed in the contents on the ISFDB pages ) but there are occasions where these are present but not listed in the contents ---contents of the letters /and/ The Eyrie (if present) may also have changes but it is very difficult to check if so as well there may be some other changes but devoting the time and effort to page-by-page comparison is not practical ----advertisements might be different from the US issue (actually likely to be different but without checking page-by-page I cannot say for 100% sure Size: 6.75w x 9.75h Inches. Book First Edition
Self-wraps [newspaper]. Condition: Very Good. From Engravings (illustrator). First Edition. Boston: M.M. Ballou, 1855. First Edition [newspaper]. The May 26,1855 issue, Volume VIII, No. 21, Whole No. 203. Numerous illustrations from engravings. Elephant folio size, sewn newsprint wraps, 16 pp. A strong Very Good Plus; other than modest occasional darkening to places on the covers (see scans), hardly anything to point to here. One of the highest grade copies I have. Maturin Ballou's paper was quite supple, not at all fragile, and it shows. Sharp, healthy, well-preserved. This issue contains stories, articles, and / or the diverse and now somewhat legendary engravings - as follows: Club House, Corner of Beacon and Park Streets, with large engraving; "The King and the Cobbler: A Romance of Ancient Persia" (continuation at chapter VIII) by Austin C. Burdick; three locations in New Zealand, with text and three engravings; William the Conqueror, with large engraving; "The Pretended Nephew", by Anne T. Wilbur; Trenton, New Jersey, with text and six memorable engravings; "Greece", by Dr. J.V.C. Smith; "Freemont! Or, The Ride of the One Hundred" by Frederick Stanhope; Freeman Hunt, Esq., text with engraving; Old Fort at Medford, text with engraving; Old Feather Store, Dock Square, Boston, text with engraving; Quakers in Boston; Norfolk House, Roxbury, text with engraving; Revolutionary Monument at Lexington, text with engraving; Revolutionary Monument at Concord, text with scan; and a number of short editorials, news pieces, poems, and ads. Maturin Ballou's 16-page newsprint periodical was already a piece of American history when he, as managing editor of Gleason's Pictorial, bought that - the first successful illustrated weekly newspaper in America - from owner Frederick Gleason in 1855. An early issue under this name. lLng1.
