First ed. 381 p., clean and unmarked except for name of former owner on front end page, and gift inscription on following blank page in very elegant hand; lovely engravings frontis. and throughout; front gutter cracked but sewn signature not broken and text block is firm; beige boards with botanical decoration, bright gilt lettering and brown lettering on bright gilt patch are still nice, but corners are bumped and there is slight rubbing at crown and foot of spine. Faint stain towards upper corner of front board, but volume remains quite presentable and deserves skillful repair. Subtitle: "Or, Josiah Allan as a Politician.
