Book
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Black & White Photographs (illustrator). Dust jacket has light esgewear and light soiling, text is very clean and well bound. Tomboy Bride is the autobiographical account of Harriet Backus's years in four of North America's remote mining camps in the early 1900s. Her adventurous experiences first took her to the Tomboy Mine above Telluride, Colorado as the bride of George Backus. From there they went to the copper mines at Britannia Beach in British Columbia and then to the remote regions of Idaho. The story concludes with the years spent in Leadville, Colorado. There are rare old photographs to illustrate these locations, enriching the historical value of her book.
