Four vintage studio still photographs from the 1956 film with Columbia Pictures sticker on recto listing stars, title and Technicolor adhered to left of bottom margin. Based on Arthur Gordon's 1950 novel "Reprisal," about the 1946 lynching of two black couples, George Sherman's "Reprisal!" recasts the victims as Native Americans. Frank Madden (Guy Madison) arrives in the prairie town of Kendall, Oklahoma just as the Shipley brothers are acquitted for the lynching death of a Native American man and woman. Frank is half Native American posing as white and soon has trouble with the Shipleys who are using Franks land to graze their cattle. When the husband of the lynched Native American woman kills one of the Shipleys, Frank is accused. Placed in jail by the sheriff for his own safety the remaining Shipleys organize a mob to abduct and lynch Frank. Set in Oklahoma, shot on location in Arizona. 8 x 10 inches. Near fine, some light creasing. Pitts 3363.

Hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. pp. ix, 117. 8vo. Publisher's original gray cloth boards, maroon lettering to the spine. Exceptionally well-preserved showing no detectable flaws to the cloth extremities, contents equally without blemish with bright, clean, and unmarked pages and firm, sound binding; near fine and housed in very good original, unclipped, dustjacket showing some light spotting, and wear along the edges of the panels, bearing original price of $3.00 (now housed in protective mylar cover). Overall, very good+. Scarce first printing of the second published work by the noted Canadian philosopher, nationalist, and political theorist. Dr. Grant's penetrating analysis of the ideas that have helped make the present day mass society of both East and West will throw light on the recurring questions of thoughtful men: what is modern man; how did he come to be, and where is he heading? Dr. Grant traces the development of two basic philosophies of life: the theory of the natural law - that each creature achieves its perfection by accepting its place in the order of hierarchical being - and the theory of unlimited progress - that man is capable of changing the order of being, of making the world what he wishes it to be.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Octavo, especially bound in contemporary half green morocco and marbled boards lettered in gilt; raised bands, top edge gilt. Second edition, bearing the bookplate, "Lieut. Gen. U.S. Grant. From Citizens of Boston." January 1, 1866 ---- After the April 1865 Confederate surrender at Appomattox Court House, Ulysses S. Grant inculcated the national imagination. Boston philanthropists, including capitalist George B. Upton and Republican Congressman Samuel Hooper, presented Grant with some two thousand books, each bearing an engraved bookplate, "Lieut. Gen. U.S. Grant. From Citizens of Boston. January 1, 1866." Grant accepted the substantial and most valuable library, which the benevolent group had expended much energy and the considerable sum of five thousand dollars to assemble, as a token of their kind feelings. When the Boston library arrived, however, General Horace Porter discovered that some of the elegantly bound morocco volumes had been water-damaged in transit. Grant reassured his horrified friend that the covers seemed a little chafed, nothing more. The shipment contained works by Grant's favorite authors like Robert Burns, James Fenimore Cooper, and Charles Dickens. Notable nonfiction titles included George P. Marsh's "Origin and History of the English Language." Grant later thanked the Boston philanthropists, promising to preserve the library as possessing an extrinsic value beyond that of purchased goods.
