The Salzburger Marionetten is a world-renowned marionette theater located in Salzburg, Austria. It was founded in 1913 by Anton Aicher, a sculptor and teacher who was passionate about the Central European marionette-theater tradition. The Salzburger Marionetten is known for its unique performance practice, which involves using 12 strings to control each marionette. This technique allows for a high degree of realism and expressiveness in the marionettes' movements. The theater also uses live music to accompany its performances, which further enhances the overall experience. The Salzburger Marionetten is best known for its performances of Mozart's great operas. This program documents the premiere of Cosi fan tutte with staging by Gotz Friedrich.
