Teggart, and replete with fascinating details of overland travel and California prospecting. This "diary of an Argonaut" cover a two-year period (1849-1851) and a fairly spectacular sojourn from New Haven Connecticut all the way to Cape Horn and thence to the West Coast. This experience, surely, led Kingsley to enter into the shipping business on the Sacramento River. Kingsley recorded the mining activities he witnessed personally and the social life and history of Sacramento, Marysville, and San Francisco. Sturdy, still tightly bound softcover copy, minor to moderate wear of covers and text-block, but with neither underlining nor highlighting. Perfectly readable, usable copy, crisp, a bit concave of binding, but signs of neither dampness nor odor. Some unopened top edges.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.

Kinglsey's diary covers the period February 8, 1849 to March 4, 1851, during which he traveled from New Haven around the Horn to San Francisco.
