First Thus. 234pgs Inscription on FEP else VG-/VG- Williams born in 1787, was an itinerant preacher, a missionary to the Osage Indians, became a master trapper, and was a guide on the Sibley survey of the Santa Fe Trail in1825. He was a guide on two o f Fremont¿s expeditions. Williams was blamed for the failure and disaster of the Fremont expedition of 1848 when they tried to cross the mountains in winter. The author believes that Williams was falsely accused.
