Finlay Dun was a noted musician, recalled best for this collection but also noted for the collection of solfeggi that he published in 1829. He spent much of his life in Edinburgh teaching singing, violin and composition. John Thomson was the composer of three successful operas and many compostions for the piano and violin as well as this work with Finlay Dun. Disparate original green and mauve cloths. Rebacked, some marginal tears, offsetting, light soiling, else very good copies of this work with the 1886 signature of Sara M. Davidson Engraved titles and music in first two volumes, lithographed in last two. 4 vols. Folio.
