First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Brown paper over boards with dark red cloth spine. Title label on spine. Title and copyright pages dated 1918. 111 pages. The contents (separated into sections "En Repos," "Elsewhere," and "Over There") is a compendium of foreign phrases used in the verses. In good condition. There is some scuffing to the boards, fading to the back board, and bumping to corners. Perhaps some of it could be explained by the inscription inside the front cover -- "Ralph Van [Vlist?] S.S.U. 575 & S.S.U. 554 in France 1917 to 1919". The section numbers indicate that the previous owner may have been recruited into service on Penn Campus, and later joined an ambulance unit. Binding is strong with clean and unmarked pages. Overall, a nice first edition copy of this volume of World War I verse.
