Seller: Twice-Loved Books, East Palestine, OH, U.S.A.
Book
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. * RARE 1858 EDITION ** HARDCOVER ** NOT A LIBRARY BOOK ** STUDY CLOTH-BOUND BOOK ** CLEAN AND STAIN-FREE ** TEXT UNMARKED ** SOUND AND SOLID ** COMPLETE AND INTACT ** This is the original hardcover book published by The American Tract Society in 1858, with 413 pages. A scarce important book, almost never found in any of the early hardcover editions. This copy, published in New York, was prepared from the Fifth London Edition as revised by William Dodd. The book is in the publisher's original heavy-duty black cloth-covered boards, decorated in blind on the front and rear boards, and with embossed gilt lettering on the spine. The book is clean and stain-free, square and straight, and it is extremely firm and tight in its binding, no pages loose, missing, or torn. The hinges are sound and completely undamaged, the corners, though slightly worn at the tips, have not been bumped. Some of the pages show scattered foxing, especially the preliminary and end pages front and rear, but all pages are clean and stain-free, and all text remains sharp and very legible. Aside from a faint previous owner's name rubber-stamped on the blank front page, there is no writing, underlining, highlighting or markings of any kind in the book. The cloth binding shows occasional spots of wear at the board edges and at the top and bottom of the spine, but the greatest portion of the cloth is completely free of any wear whatsoever. A sound and solid, very clean copy of a hard-to-find important title. B15.
